Have a Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone! Remember me? Yeah, I'm still here. Almost forgot about the blog though. Which is probably pretty obvious, since it's been almost a year since a posted anything. Yeah, almost a year. Seriously. Go check, I'll wait.
Anyway, I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! Of course, if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful Saturday. :D

Ummmm, Happy New Year!

Yeah, so I guess it's been a while since I posted. I kinda dropped the ball on my Amazing Race posts. Oopsie! I didn't have any cards for a couple of the episodes anyway. Anyone know when the next season starts?? :D Oh, by the way, the three teams that I had picked for the pool came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I think that's pretty good for teams that I picked before the race even started, simply based on their photos and bios. Yup. :) Anyway, one of the stops on The Amazing Race this years was at the Burj Dubai in...*drumroll please*....Dubai. It was still under construction when the racers visited, but it officially opened today (although I'm sure that part of it is under construction). I have a picture of the Burj Dubai, which is apparently now know as the Burj Khalifa, that I took myself. What, you don't believe me? Well, here it is! Now you should take note that I didn't say I had a picture of the REAL Burj Khalifa. :D This is actually a 17-foot tall model built out of Legos. How cool is that! It is on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago (yes, the place where I volunteer) as part of the ART + Science = Architecture exhibit until March 15. There are also models of other buildings. Buildings in Chicago: (l-r) Chicago Spire (construction halted), Marina City Towers (the two small buildings in the front), 7 South Dearborn (plans scrapped), John Hancock Center, Trump Tower, and the WIllis Tower (formally the Sears Tower)...

...and around the world: The Empire State Building in New York, New York, the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, China, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri and the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco, California.
As great as the buildings look in the pictures, they look 100 times better in person. So if you are going to be in Chicago before March 15, stop by the museum and see them. :D
Of course, it wouldn't be one of my blog posts without a postcard or two. These two postcards show the Dubai Shopping Festival. They came from Terra in Germany as part of a trade. The first shows the Dubai Carnivals.

And a lovely fireworks display.

So that's it. You're all going to be holding your breath waiting for my next post, right? :D Yeah, that's what I thought.
