I thought about starting this post several hours ago, but I kept putting it off.  I finally decided I'd better write something quick before it's tomorrow.

This is the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona.  Postcrosser KarenElissa sent the card to me with the help of her students in an after-school program in Tucson.

The Museum...Again

Yes, once again, I am at the museum.  This time, however, it is for the Members' Camp-In rather than a Snoozeum.  Ok, so they are very similar.  The only major difference is that the Snoozeum participants are groups of kids like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Adventure Guides, etc. and the people at the Members' Camp-in, the museum members (duh!), are mostly family groups.

I just got done writing Thursday's post, and I didn't have much to say then, so I certainly don't have anything new to say now.  So, to the postcards!

Belgium BE-24490 received 12-06-2008

Kortrijk is a city in north western Belgium, and Postcrosser Karow lives there.  Among the buildings shown on the card are the theatre, the town hall and 2 towers from the Middle Ages.

Belgium BE-19330 received 08-25-2008

I have received a number of cards showing the biennial Flower Carpet in the Grand Place in Brussels, Belgium from different angles. This aerial shot is interesting because it shows the large open area of the marketplace in the midst of all of the buildings that are so close together.  This card came from Postcrosser kreatuur.

Nothing New

Nothing new to report on Anakin.  He still hates the collar, but otherwise is acting very much like his old self.  He even swatted at Jedi as he (Jedi) walked past before.  :)  I used the last of the antibiotics tonight, and I'll use the last dose of pain meds in the morning, so at least the only medicine I'll have to torture him with after that is the eyedrops.  Yay!

Not much else going on here, so I'll get right to the cards.

Brazil US-233396 received 08-15-2008

Walter Ribeiro Stadium is located in Sorocaba, Brazil.  silviaq, the Postcrosser that sent the card to me, is located in North Carolina.  She didn't mention why she sent me a card of Brazil instead of one of NC.

Brazil BR-32318 received 05-07-2008

This card of Brazil was actually sent from Brazil, by Postcrosser eko.  It shows Paulista Avenue in São Paulo.  eko lived in a small town where it was difficult to find postcards, which is why she sent one of the city.  I know how that goes. I have only found one place in Crown Point that sells postcards of Crown Point - the Lake County Historical Museum, and it is only open 3 days a week from May to October.   Oh, hey, I guess that means I'll be able to get more postcards there soon.  The last time I bought cards there, the employee told me that she had never sold that many cards (about 10) at once before.  I guess there isn't a big demand for postcards around here.

I was asked to provide an update on my Kitty Conehead (hehehehe), so here it is.  He seems to be getting a bit more used to the collar, but he is still trying to remove it.  He got the edge of it wet when he was getting a drink, and then he went into the litter box so litter got stuck to the edge of it (yuck!).  I've been doing my best to keep it clean, but I can see it isn't going to be easy, and he has to keep it on for at least 10 days.  If he hasn't figured out how to get it off of himself by then, it will be a miracle.  He's a very resourceful cat.

I also realized that because of the collar, he isn't able to clean himself (double yuck!).  So I bought some bath wipes made for cats.  They are like big wet wipes that you just rub over the fur.  He wasn't happy about it but tolerated it pretty well, just like he's tolerated the 3 types of medicine that I have to give him twice a day.  I just wish that there was something more I could do for him, but I can't make him heal any faster.  Anyone have a magic wand I can borrow?

If all of that was more than you cared to know, you can blame GG if you know her.  She was the one who asked ;)  Now, on to the postcards.

Germany DE-193256 received 08-06-2008

"What are are searching for... won't find in the depth of the oceans,
or at the top of the mountains,
it is home in your heart."

Yup, that's what the card says, according to Postcrosser katinka_, who sent the card.  It was actually the first Postcrossing card that she ever sent.  She is from Germany.

Germany DE-197605 received 08-13-2008

This is Schloss Celle, in the town of Celle, Germany.  RedSquirrel (a Postcrosser, not an actual red squirrel) sent the card to me.

See you tomorrow night! :)

Poor Kitty!

Anakin, my 12-year-old black cat, had a mass removed from next to his eye today.  Obviously, he shouldn't scratch at the stitches, so he's wearing one of those humiliating cones around his neck.  He has been trying to get it off since he got home, both by trying to back out of it (hilarious!) and by trying to rub it against various things.  He hasn't succeeded.  Doesn't stop him from trying though.  Fortunately, it's a soft vinyl cone, not a hard plastic one, so at least he can lay down fairly comfortably.  And I don't think Jedi will be bothering him for a while...he (Jedi) was terrified of the cone. :)

I've mostly been posting cards from 2008, but I'm sneaking an early 2009 card into the mix tonight because I think it's appropriate.

Finland FI-442522 received 01-09-2009

Postcrosser pikku-mai from Finland translated the caption.  I think she means "It could have been worse!"  I tried telling that to Anakin, but he seems to think that cone is just about as bad as it can get. :)  Well, that and the 3 different medicines I have to give him twice a day.  He's soooooooo thrilled about that, let me tell you!  Fortunately, the cone makes it more difficult for him to run and hide because he keeps bumping into things, so he is easier to catch when medicine time comes. ;)

I'm Dumb!!

Yesterday was Easter, right?  Did I post any Easter cards yesterday?  Go back and look.  I'll wait.

No, I didn't.  Why?  Read the title.  It never even occurred to me!  I remembered it was Easter yesterday.  Really, I swear I did.  But when I finally remembered I needed to post something yesterday, I had tunnel vision right to those 2008 cards that I've been trying to get through. Oh well, maybe I'll post some of them next year.  If I stop being such a doofus!

So, now let me think.  Today isn't any sort of a holiday, right?  Just trying to make sure that I'm not going to smack myself in the forehead later for not posting something specific. :)

Finland FI-374345 received 09-29-2008

As you can clearly read, this card shows a map and some scenes from Lapland in Finland.  Postcrosser Anitar sent this card to me.

Finland FI-339067 received 08-13-2008

I'm not sure if this card shows a sunrise or a sunset.  I'm not even sure what the name of this lake is.  I only know that it is a lake in Finland, and annaai sent the card to me.

No holidays tomorrow either, right?  Someone warn me when the next one is coming, ok? :)

Another close call

I was just about to turn off my computer and go to bed when I remembered I hadn't written anything tonight.  One of these days, I really am going to forget again.  You'd think after doing something every night for months, it would become second nature.  Yeah, apparently not.

I thought with all the rain we've had lately in my area, this card was appropriate.

The title of this movie means 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg' in French.  It was released in 1964.  I had never heard of it before I received this card, but it is a favorite of Postcrosser mimosa-mimosa, who sent the card to me.  She lives in....Japan.  Bet you weren't expecting me to say that, right? :)

Saturday, April 23, 2011

So, yes, I did watch the new episode of Doctor Who tonight.  I won't post any spoilers because I know there are some who don't have BBC America and weren't able to watch it, but I will say that the events of the first 10 minutes left me totally gobsmacked, and I am thoroughly confused by the episode overall.  Of course, it was part one of two, so hopefully next week will clear things up a bit.  Although knowing Doctor Who, there will be some lingering questions for the rest of the season.  I am still in the process of rewatching the episodes from last season that were on before the new episode.  They started at 5 AM, and there was no way I was going to get up then.  Plus I had to take Anakin to the vet this morning, which took quite a while, so I wasn't able to actually start watching until about noon.  Anyway, on to the postcards.

Tonight's postcards are actually both from the same country, although like one of last night's cards, one of them was sent from a different country than it shows.

This is Castello S. Giorgio in Mantova, Italy.  Or, in English, St. George Castle in Mantua.  Postcrosser Bricolo sent it to me with a Lamborghini stamp on it.

These lovely scenes of Rome at night actually came to me via Cynthia1987 in the Netherlands.  I'm not sure what the top two pictures show, but I believe the bottom left is Trevi Fountain and the bottom right is definitely the Colosseum.

I'm going to go finish watching Doctor Who now.  Yes, clearly I am a person of limited interests. :)

111 in '11

The blog archive list over there on the right tells me that this is my 111th post in 2011.  Considering this is the 112th day of 2011, I think that's darn good.  I've only forgotten once (which I made up for) and I was only unable to post once because of internet issues.  And with the exception of the few posts that I scheduled because I was going to be at the museum, all of the posts have been written on the day they were posted.

For tonight's post, I picked out two cards that I *thought* were from the same country.  They were both sent from the same country, but actually show two different countries.  Oh well, I'm not going to pick out another card.

Portugal FR-27500 received 06-10-2008

This card was sent to me by Postcrosser Mik, who lives in France.  However, Armação de Pêra is parish in the district of Algarve in southern Portugal.  It's a popular tourist area.

France - The Louvre, Paris

I'm sure you realize that this card actually does show France.  And The Louvre in Paris at that.  As I've said before, I don't enjoy art museums, but if I ever visit France, I'd have to visit the Louvre simply because it is the Louvre.  Postcrosser neojojo sent this card to me as part of a swap.

See you tomorrow night for number 112.  Of course, I won't be posting it until AFTER the new episode of Doctor Who airs at 8 PM CDT.   And don't bother me during the day tomorrow either - there's an all day marathon of the season 5 episodes on before the new episode.  :)

Thursday, April 21, 2011

It annoys me when a postcard I scan is crooked.  It also annoys me when it looks like the card is crooked, but it actually isn't.  For example, this card.

Brazil BR-34115 received 05-23-2008

Really, the card isn't crooked.  The picture on it, however, is.  I don't know if it was taken crooked or just printed crooked, but it really bugs me.  Oh, by the way, the building in the front is the Biblioteca da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia in Brazil.  I don't speak Portuguese, but I'm guess that means the library of the Federal University of Uberlândia.  I received this card from Postcrosser davlon.

I really wanted to post another card tonight, but I have a bad headache, and I really just want to go to bed.  So I'm going to.

What a (Nagging) Feeling

Ever since I got home from work this evening, I've had a feeling that I forgot to do something, and I can't for the life of me figure out what it is.  I returned my library book, I got groceries and I paid all of my bills today, so I know it is none of those.  I changed out the cats' litter boxes when I got home.  I don't have any commitments at the museum until next Friday.  I know which postcards I need to send out.  I haven't forgotten any birthdays, although next year I will have to remember April 21st, because my cousin is being induced tomorrow. :)  I just have no idea what I didn't do.  Maybe it is something that I was supposed to do at work.  I just wish I could remember because it's bugging the heck out of me.  Not even the purring kitty on my lap ("Say hi, Jedi!") is helping.

Oh well, I guess I'll just post a card or two and then go to bed.  Maybe sleeping on it will help me remember.

This is Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.  I don't know what those funny vehicles are.  I can only guess that they are tourist trams.  Neither the sender, andreasvitekova, nor the back of the card offer any insight.

This is apparently the second card I received from oksana77, because on Flickr I designated it "Card 2".  I checked my Postcrossing account, and I see it took me 75 days to register her card.  After 60 days, a card "expires", which means that the sender can request a new address.  But the card can still be registered for up to a year, so I'm sure that's why she sent a second card.  And once my card was registered, that meant she received a card from someone else in return.

Oh, I supposed I should tell you something about the picture on the card.  According to oksana77, this is the Voznesensky Cathedral in Novosibirsk, Russia.  I'm glad she told me that because the caption on the back of the card is in Russian. :)

P.S.  In case you didn't notice, if you want music while you read my blog, you now have to turn it on yourself.  I didn't realize how many people found it annoying when music automatically plays on a blog.  Sorry if I annoyed any of you. :)

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Yeah, that's what they are!

Finland FI-346785 received 08-19-2008

I received this card from Ansku in Finland

Nope, not much to say again.  Maybe one of these days I'll have something.  Not having much of a life really hinders me when it comes to writing interesting blogs.  :)

Straight to the Card

USA US-248973 received 09-12-2008

This is from Postcrosser ochotonidae.

Other than that, I got nothing.  Going to bed early.  Good night.

Not Sick

I am feeling much better tonight.  Contrary to what some people seemed to think, I don't actually have a cold.  I must be allergic to something, because I always get stuffy this time of year.  It's worse at some times, like last night, than other times, like tonight.  It did clear up after a while last night, and my headache went away, so I stayed up quite late and put a bunch of my postcards in the sleeves I bought.  I finished that project just a couple of minutes ago, so now all of my boxes of postcards look very neat and tidy.  The only bad part is that now the cards all look identical from the top, so I hope I don't have too much trouble finding the cards I want. :)  Let's find out.

Israel - Tel Aviv Multiview

Ok, I found this one of Tel Aviv, Israel quite easily.   I received it as part of a swap with Postcrosser leeba.

Israel - Jubilee 2000 The Beduins

This is also from leeba, but this one was part of the '12 Viewcards in an Envelope' Round Robin.  It was one of three cards that I picked from the envelope.

I spent so much time stuffing postcards into sleeves this weekend that I didn't get much else done.  I did donate all of my VHS movies to my local library for them to sell in the book sale room (which apparently is not very accurately named), and I straighted up the cabinet underneath the bathroom sink while I was on the phone with my mom.  But that's about it.  I should go do something now, but it's quite late and I have to work in the morning, so I think I'll just go to bed. :)

Saturday, April 16, 2011

I'm miserable tonight.  I can't breath and decongestant isn't helping, and to top it off, I have a throbbing headache.  So I think I'm going to go take a nap, but I may just end up sleeping all night, so I thought I'd write something quick so that I wouldn't miss another night.

Finland FI-411917 received 11-17-2008

This is the Aboa Vetus and Ars Nova Museum in Turku, Finland.  The card was sent to me by Postcrosser henrika.

Friday, April 15, 2011

I'm writing this post right after I wrote Thursday's post, because as you read this, I will be at the Museum of Science and Industry.  I'm having a really difficult time trying to figure out what to write and which postcard to show, because I used all my material in the previous post.  My brain seems to have shut down for the evening.  I would be really nice if there was a way I could write this while I was at the museum.  But I will be down in the U-505 exhibit, and probably quite busy teaching kids about a bunch of artifacts, so I wouldn't have time to write it anyway.

I guess I'll just pick a card.  Ok, I picked one.  Do you want to see it?  Do you?  HUH???  Yeah, clearly I'm getting loopy.

Norway NO-10884 received 06-17-2008

This is Oslo, the capital of Norway.  Oslo, Readers.  Readers, Oslo.  It's very pretty, and it looks like there are some cruise ships in that top picture.  I'd love to take a cruise around Scandinavia.  Maybe some day.  Anyway, thanks to Postcrosser smarhaug for the card.

Thursday, April 14, 2011

You may notice something new on the right sidebar over there.  See it?  Right below my Guest Map (which most of you don't seem to have noticed).  Yeah, that'a a countdown widget for the new season of Doctor Who.  It starts in....well, you can read the widget, right?  I'm very, very excited for the new season.  It is the first season that I will get to watch as it airs, instead of having to watch it on DVD (which I've done...over and over and over and over.....).  *Squeeeeeeeeee*

For those of who have never seen the show, here is a brief explanation by writer Neil Gaiman that my friend Mark (aka wassa) posted on the AQ Doctor Who board (you had to know I would use this, Mark.):

"There’s a blue box, it’s bigger on the inside, it can go anywhere in space and time, sometimes even where it’s supposed to. There’s a bloke in the box, he’s called ‘The Doctor’ and when he gets where he’s going there’s going to be a problem and he’ll try to solve it and he’ll probably succeed because he’s awesome. Now shut up and go watch ‘Blink.’"

FYI, 'Blink' is a episode from season 3, written by Steven Moffat.  It introduced the Weeping Angels, which are really creepy statues.

Germany DE-160807 received 05-19-2008

Ok, that's not a Weeping Angel.  That's not even an angel.  But it is a statue, and I thought it was a decent segue. :)  This particular statue is in the Herrenhausen Gardens in Hanover, Germany, and the card was sent to me by Postcrosser maschsee.

I'll be volunteering at another Snoozeum tomorrow night, so I guess I'll have to write tomorrow's post now.  Either that, or I'll just skip a night.  Hmmm, what to do, what to do.  Guess you'll just have to wait until tomorrow night to find out what I decided to do.  I'm sure you'll all be waiting with bated breath. :)

PS  I've been getting increasingly frustrated over the past few weeks while trying to get my posts to look the way I wanted them to.  It turned out that all I needed to do was go into the Settings tab and update my Post Editor.  I did that and suddenly everything formats soooooo easily!  Why oh why didn't someone tell me about this weeks ago??  Oh yeah, 'cause I didn't ask. :)

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

I would like to apologize for last night's post. As you might have guessed, I was not in a good mood. I am in a better mood tonight, partly because I got myself a present.

Ok, so it's not a very exciting present. But now most of my postcards will be more protected. I say most because these will only fit the 4x6 postcards. I do have some more sleeves coming that are for the 5x7 cards (not nearly as many because I don't have that many 5x7 postcards), so then the only cards that will be naked are the odd-sized and/or shaped postcards. In case you are wondering, I got them from eBay. I was searching for something else, but found someone selling these in bulk. I searched around for the best deal and placed an order. That was Sunday. I got them today. That seller got a very high rating from me! :)

And here is one of the first cards that will be protected.

France - La place de la Comédie, Montpellier

This is La place de la Comédie in Montpellier, France. I just love the contrast between the old buildings and the modern tramway at the bottom. I received this card as part of a swap with Postcrosser scratcher.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Word of warning: I'm a little bit cranky tonight. Sheesh, I'm starting to sound like Craig Ferguson, aren't I? Earlier, I had a yen for teriyaki chicken wings, so I went and got some. They were really good, but they gave me heartburn and made me really, REALLY thirsty. Antacid mostly took care of the heartburn, but I've been drinking lots and lots of water to try to get rid of the thirst. That, of course, means I'll have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. And to top it off, I bought some really beautiful raspberries that didn't have any flavor at all. Grrr!!

Gee, I've started out so pleasantly, haven't I? Yeah, whatever. Just look at the damn postcards.

Brazil - Lavras Novas, Minas Gerais

This first card is from Lu1976 and shows Lavras Novas, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Yeah, that's what the back of the card says. As I was looking at this card tonight, I noticed a horse in the picture. I never saw it before. Huh. Anyway, Lu sent the card to me for the Other Continent Round Robin.

Brazil - Museum of the Inconfidência, Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais

This is the Museum of the Inconfidência, in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I bet you are thinking "Hey, it's that Minas Gerais place again." Yes, it is, and guess what? This card is also from Lu1976, except this time it was for the Museums Around the World Round Robin.

I had considered posting one or two more cards, but it's getting late and I'm running out of steam. So you'll just have to wait to see them some other night. And if you don't like it, tough!

Monday, April 11, 2011

Saved by the...TV?

Earlier, I made the mistake of reading the last 10-15 pages of a book in bed. When I was done, I didn't want to get up because Anakin was very sweetly snuggling with me. So I put the book down and guess what? I almost fell asleep. The only thing that kept me from completely nodding off was the TV in the apartment upstairs. They had it on LOUD. I'm sorry, but when you live in a multi-unit building, and it is after 10 PM, you really need to be more considerate of others. Not that they shouldn't be considerate all the time. Just more so at night. But thanks to that TV, I didn't miss out on posting tonight. I'm sure you're so thrilled about that...

Estonia EE-32372 received 10-16-2008

Obviously, this is Estonia. The caption on the back of the card gives a better description than I can in my half-asleep state: "Tahkuna Lighthouse; Tubala Pole - According to an ancient legend, Hiiumaa is fastened to the bottom of the sea here.; A statue of Hiiu strongman Leiger (by sculptor Kaljo Reitel)" Postcrosser hiiusirje sent it to me.

Ok, I'm going back to bed now. Maybe I can convince Anakin to stop playing with my laptop power cord ("ANAKIN, STOP IT!!") and come with me.

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Don't Wanna!

I was seriously considering not writing a blog entry tonight, because I really didn't want to. But so far this year, I have not purposely missed writing a post. Yes, I forgot once, and I wasn't able to write on the 1st because my ISP is crap, but I haven't just said "Nah, I don't feel like it." So, after debating with myself for a while, my guilt got the best of me and I pulled out a card. This card.

Here we have a drawing of Hvitträsk. No, I didn't just sneeze. Hvitträsk was originally built as a studio home for an architecture firm, but it is now a private residence near Kirkkonummi, Finland. Hvitträsk means "white swamp". Yeah, that sounds like a place I'd want to live. Not. (Wow, did I just travel back to the early 90's? Or was it the late 80's? Anyway...)
This is actually one of two cards that Postcrosser Minri sent to me. I misplaced the first one (which was this one), and before I found it and registered it, she sent a second card. I would post the other card, but I need to rescan it because the scan ended up with some funny wavy lines on it (my scans sometimes do). However, I don't feel like digging through the box to find it and then scan it, so I'll post it some other time. Clearly I don't feel like doing much tonight. Although I did write a much longer post than I thought I would when I started. But I'm going to stop and go to bed now. Hopefully the thunder won't keep me awake, because I actually do feel like going to sleep. :)

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Oh Shoot!

I had a post all planned out with two cards. After I had written most of the post, I realized that I had already blogged one of the cards I had chosen. Crap! Now I have nothing of real substance to say. (I know, I know, what else is new, right?) So anyway, I guess I will just post the one card that I haven't blogged before and be done with it.

At first I thought that I had put this card of Karlsruhe Palace on the scanner at a slight angle, because it looks crooked to me. But upon looking at the actual card, I realize that the card itself is not's just the top picture. The photo was either taken or printed that way. It annoys me, but I guess there is nothing I can do about it. I still like the card, and thank Postcrosser Rotluchs for sending it to me

Friday, April 8, 2011

So, first I had a leak, then a drip. I bet that the title of this post made you think that my water problems have gotten dramatically worse. Well, I'm very sorry to disappoint you. :) The ceiling seems quite dry today. There is still a piece of black plastic taped in the corner of my kitchen ceiling, but other than that, and the yellow stain on the ceiling near the washer/dryer closet, you wouldn't know that I had any issues. I actually received a text message a little while ago, asking if I had a waterfall yet, so that gave me the idea for this post. Thanks, GG. ;)

Even though my apartment is dry, the title would be false advertising if I didn't give you some sort of a waterfall, so here's one.

Australia AU-42575 received 05-22-2009

I believe this picture was actually taken by Postcrosser joydobson19. She doesn't give a location, but she did say that it is in a national park near her home in Australia. The stamp is very pretty also. It shows Grose River Gorge in New South Wales.

What a Drip!

When I left for work this morning, I locked the two cats in the bedroom because I knew maintenance would be coming in to look at the water stains that I mentioned in last night's post. I came home at lunch and could tell that maintenance had been there, so I let the cats out and then hung my jacket on the back of my computer chair. As I did that, I saw something fall onto the chair. I looked down and realized that the chair had a big wet spot on it. I then looked up and said "Oh, S#!%!" There was water dripping from the ceiling! I reported it to the office, and they sent maintenance over right away. Of course, they checked the apartment above mine. I don't know what they found because I had to go back to work, but when I got home, the ceiling was no longer dripping (Yay!). However, there is a piece of black plastic taped to the ceiling above my fridge. I'm guessing that it is covering a hole they cut to try to find the leak. I guess I will lock the cats up again tomorrow in case they come back to repair the hole. I hope they do.
So, that's my saga. Now here's a postcard. :)

This church is in Monsaraz, Portugal, and it came to me from Postcrosser antsemedo.

Eek, A Leak

I have to confess that I'm not really concentrating too much on this post. I'm worried about the apparent leak in the apartment above mine. There is a distinct water stain on the ceiling above the closet where my washer and dryer reside that wasn't there yesterday, and some of the paint on the wall is bubbling. I'm assuming the apartment above mine is laid out the same where, so their washer would be in the same place, and that is what is leaking. I keep checking the stain to see if it's getting any bigger. I can't really tell if it is or not, which probably means it isn't. I did call maintenance and left a message, so I'm sure they will be in tomorrow to check it out. But it still worries me. Tonight's card has nothing to do with any of that, but I couldn't think of any other way to fit it into the blog.

Ireland IE-1848 received 05-20-2008

I had to look up the website on the back of this card, because I wasn't quite sure what the card was advertising. Turns out it is the dresses. I thought maybe it was some sort of art exhibit or something. I'm not in to fashion or art, so how would I know? :) Anyway, jacoba sent this card from Ireland.

I've Got Nothing

While that doesn't stop me from blathering on most of the time, I think that tonight I'll just get to the postcard.

This is the Castle of "EL BIL-BIL" (that's exactly what the back of the card says) in Benalmadena, Spain, which is on the Costa del Sol. I received this card from bogdanovskaya. She is originally from Russia, but has been living in Spain for a number of years.

Postcards, Postcards Everywhere

I wrote out a bunch of postcards tonight, and then I had to register 4 Postcrossing cards that I received. I was so busy dealing with postcards that I almost forgot to write a post about a postcard. :)

Germany - Beautiful Sauerland

Most of the cards I post are official Postcrossing cards, so if I don't specifically mention the card's origin, just assume that it's an official card. This card, however, was part of the "Other Continent" Round Robin. As you may have guessed from the name, everyone in the group was from different continents. Sauerland is in Germany, which of course means that this was the card from Europe, and it was sent by xtlera. :)

No More Finland

Hahaha! April Fool's! Ok, so I'm a couple days late for that. Big deal. There are still a number of 2008 Finland cards left, so I won't be done with them anytime soon. The number of cards that I receive from Finland seems to have dropped of dramatically over the last year though. I haven't received one since January, and before that, the last one was November. Wow, I hadn't really looked that before, and now that I do, it seems really odd. are some cards from...wait for it....Finland! :D

Finland FI-382393 received 10-16-2008

The ship on the lower right is called Suomen Joutsen, or the Swan of Finland, and it is shown here on the Aura River. This card is from Mumi.

Finland FI-345867 received 08-19-2008

This aerial view of Turku Castle came from Paivi67.

Finland FI-346818 received 08-19-2008

As I've said before, I don't like visiting art museums, but looking at them from the outside is just fine. :) This is the Sara Hildén Art Museum in the city of Tampere, and it was sent to me by Talvi.

Finland FI-346281 received 08-19-2008

Finally, we have a rather interesting perspective of the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki from the 1952 Olympics, which was sent by lirael. This might not be a good card to stare at too long if you have vertigo. :)

Ok, that's it. I decided to post 4 tonight because I missed posting on Friday. And because I'm getting tired of looking at the same cards from 2008 over and over every night when I try to decide which ones to post. Once I post them, I don't have to look at them anymore. :D

Swing and a Miss

So you may have noticed that I didn't post yesterday. Again. But this time it was not my fault. I was unable to connect to the internet because my apartment complex contracted with some crappy local internet service provider that provides unreliable service. And darn it! I had such a funny post planned for April Fools' Day. No, actually, I didn't. I had an idea about a month and a half ago, but then I totally forgot to follow through. I'll keep the idea in mind though, and maybe use it some other time. So anyway, baseball season started on Thursday. The Chicago Cubs played their first game yesterday, and unfortunately lost, but they won today. Why am I telling you this when you probably don't care? Well, it's a segue to a postcard. Duh! :) I've already posted the one card I've received of Wrigley Field in Chicago, so how about a random baseball stadium?

USA US-300461 received 12-10-2008

I received this card from aeyp32 in December of 2008, and less than 2 months later, I received another card of the same stadium, this time from chitabrita.

USA US-345134 received 02-17-2009

That's it until tomorrow. Well, as long as my internet connection is working tomorrow. And as long as I remember. :)
