Notes: Sparrenburg Castle in Bielefeld was built before the year 1250 to guard Bielefield Pass in the Teutoburg Forest.  It was heavily damaged during World War II, with only the tower remaining unscathed.  It underwent restoration between 1948 and 1987, and it is now open to visitors.  From 1955 to 1983, the German Museum of Playing Cards was housed in the estate building.  Seriously, there really is a museum for everything!

Notes: Bonn is a city of just over 300,00 along the banks of the Rhine River in western Germany.  It was the capital of West Germany when the country was divided after World War II.  Ludwig von Beethoven was born in the city, and his birthplace is a tourist attraction.  This card shows the city of along the bank of the Rhine in the top photo, and the Bonn Minster Basilica below.
