Notes: Unlike last winter, this winter has not had a long enough cold snap to allow for ice thick enough to skate on.  That is not the case for the ice in this photo.  These people are having fun skating on the canals around the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kinderdijk.  Kinderdijk and its 19 windmills have been featured on several other cards I have posted, but I believe this is the first with a winter scene.

Notes: Den Haag, or The Hague, is the seat of goverment for the Netherlands.  This card shows part of the Binnenhof, a complex of buildings in the city center.  Binnenhof houses the office of the Prime Minister, as well as the States General of the Netherlands.  The building with the two towers is the Ridderzaal, which means Hall of Knights.  It was built in the 13th century, and today it is used for the state opening of Parliament, as well as royal receptions and inter-parliamentary conferences.
