Day Three Hundred Forty-Nine

Louisiana - Rosedown Plantation

Notes: Nitrocat was nice enough to send a couple of postcards to me when she visited the New Orleans, Louisiana area in 2011.  This card is from Rosedown Plantaion, which is north of New Orleans.  It was built in the mid-1830s by Daniel and Martha Turnbull.  The plantation was owned by their direct descendants until the 1950s, when it was purchased by Catherine Fondren Underwood.  She proceeded to restore the house and gardens, and return the plantation to a working cattle farm.  The house was opened to tourists in 1964, and was declared a National Historic Monument in 2005.
