Notes: The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis is a Roman-Catholic cathedral in the Central West End of St. Louis, Missouri.  It was built between 1907 and 1914 as a replacement for the previous Cathedral of St. Louis that was located along the Mississippi River.  The current cathedral has the largest mosaic collection in the world, containing 41.5 million glass tesserae pieces in over 7,000 colors.  There is a museum in the basement in the cathedral dedicated to the mosaics.

Notes: In 1856, the Steamboat Arabia sank in the Missouri River after striking a submerged tree trunk.  All of the passengers survived, but 200 tons of cargo were lost.  Over 130 years later, excavation on the wreck began, and the items that were recovered were put on display in the Steamboat Arabia Museum, which  opened in 1991 in Kansas City.  The museum's collection now contains hundreds of thousands of items needed for every day life on the frontier.
