With a Cherry on Top

Minnesota - Spoonbridge and Cherry, Minneapolis

Notes: This looks like a giant spoon with a cherry on it, sitting in the middle of a park...and that is exactly what it is.  Spoonbridge and Cherry, created between 1985-1988,  is a sculpture by husband and wife Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen.  It is the centerpiece of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. It is difficult to see from this angle, but the spoon actually sits over a pond, and the stem of the cherry sprays water.

If I jump on the handle REAL HARD, will it launch the cherry?

The only way you'll know for sure is if you try. Let us know how it goes, OK?
