Notes: This lovely dome is inside the Uspenski (or Uspensky) Cathedral, an Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Helsinki, Finland. The name comes from the Old Church Slavonic (the first Slavic literary language) uspenie, which signifies the Dormition (death) of the Virgin Mary.  The cathedral was built between 1862 and 1868, and is dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary).  It is the largest orthodox church in Western Europe.

France - Eguisheim

Notes: To me, this town almost doesn't look real, but rather more like a movie set.  All those flowers are gorgeous!  This is the town of Eguisheim, located in the Alsace region of eastern France.  In May of 2013, it was voted the "Favorite French Village", a title that annually passes from town to town in France.  Alsace is a wine-producing region, and Eguisheim apparently produces a high quality Alsatian wine.
