Old State House in New Hampshire

Notes: The New Hampshire State House (aka the Capitol) was built between 1816 and 1819, and was remodeled and enlarged in 1864.  According to an inscription on the side of the building, it is the nation's oldest state house in which the legislature occupies its original chambers.  The Senate Chamber houses the 24 members of the State Senate, while the House Chamber houses the largest state legislative body in the U.S., with 400 members.  Originally, the statue at the top of the dome was a war eagle, which looked to the left.  In 1957, it was replaced with a statue of a peace eagle, which faces right.
