Take Me to Church

France - Nohant-Vic

Notes:  Nohant-Vic is a commune in central France, consisting of two villages, Nohant and Vic. I thought at first that this was the Church of Saint-Martin; however, after researching it a bit more, I realized that this church looks similar, but is not the same one as it is a bit smaller and the tower is shorter.  I'm not sure of the name of it, but I did find a photo on TripAdviser that says it is on the grounds of the Auberge de la Petite Fadette hotel.

Nohant-Vic is probably most famous as the home of Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin, the novelist better known by the pseudonym George Sand.  Bibiche wrote quite a bit about her on the back of the card. It sounds like she was a rather interesting and scandalous person.

If you are a movie person, and interested in George Sand, I recommend Impromptu with Judy Davis and Hugh Grant. It is about the love affair between Sand and Chopin.
It also has Emma Thompson, Julian Sands and Bernadette Peters in it.

Back in the mid 70s the band "Ambrosia" did a really great song based on a Chopin piece, called "Dance With Me, George: Chopin's Plea", about his relationship with George Sand. The lyrics are really pretty clever.
