There's Snow Place Creepier

Oregon - Timberline Lodge

Notes: I know it is spring here in the Northern Hemisphere, and many of us are trying to forget about snow, but this was the next unblogged card in the USA box.  Sorry!

Timberline Lodge is a ski lodge on the slopes of Mt. Hood in Oregon.  According to the back of the card, the lodge gets around 200 inches of snow in the winter, which seems like it practically buries the building.  The lodge was built in the 1930s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.  It is probably best known as the exterior location for The Shining, the creeptastic 1980 movie starring Jack Nicholson.  It does not, however, have a hedge maze - those scenes were filmed in a studio in England.

Ahhhhhh, memories...
I worked at a movie theater where they were showing "The Shining". We sorta pulled a lot of pranks, much to the chagrin of the manager. We put up signs advertising the "Redrum Special" - Hawaiian Punch and a hot dog DRENCHED in ketchup.
