Notes: This is the Chichester Cross in Chichester, West Sussex, England.  It was commissioned by the Bishop of Chichester and built between 1477 and 1503 at the intersection of four main streets.  It is made of Caen stone, a yellowish Jurassic limestone quarried in France.  Until the early 19th century, the cross was used as a marketplace.  A market-house was built in 1807 to accommodate the increasing population of the city.  The caption on the back of the card says "The clocks facing north, south, east and west of the 15th Century Cross remind the city dwellers that another day is nearly over."  Well, isn't that cheery??
