Notes: Amsterdam has over 62 miles (100 kilometers) of canals, with around 1,500 bridges crossing them.  The three main canals are Herengracht, Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht.  The canal shown here is Leidsegracht, one of the secondary canals.  It was built between 1615 and 1658, and connects the three main canals as part of the Canal Ring area, which became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010.  Bicycles, like the one on the bridge, are very popular in Amsterdam, which has been listed as the most bicycle-friendly capital city in the world.
