Whereabouts in Washington

Washington - Tacoma

For: US to US Travelling Envelope Round Robin - Group 69
Notes: Tacoma, Washington is located on Puget Sound, southwest of Seattle.  This postcard shows the city's skyline reflected in the Thea Foss Waterway, which separates downtown from the Port of Tacoma.  The waterway was named after Thea Foss (big surprise there), who founded the Foss Maritime Company in 1889.  It is now the largest tug and towing company on the west coast.

Washington - State Capitol, Olym

For: US to US Travelling Envelope Round Robin - Group 69
Notes: Olympia is the capital of the state of Washington, and the building shown here is the Capitol (aka Legislatvie) Building.  I posted a more aerial view of this building back in May.  The building was completed in 1928, and in 1974, the Capital Campus was placed on the National Register of  Historic Districts.  As Washington was the 42nd state, there are 42 steps leading up to the north entrance of the Capitol.
