Extensive Estate

North Carolina - Biltmore Estate, Asheville

For: US to US Traveling Envelope Round Robin - Group 74: Buildings/Architecture
Notes: Biltmore is the largest privately owned house in the United States.  It was built between 1889 and 1895 for George Washington Vanderbilt, and his descendants still own it.  The house has 178,296 square feet (16,628.8 square meters) covering 252 rooms.  There are 34 bedrooms, 43 bathroooms and 3 kitchens.  Sounds like a great place for playing hide-and-seek!

There are more bathrooms than bedrooms.

I don't know why I find that intriguing. This kinda worries me.

Two or more people can occupy a bedroom at the same time, but typically there is only one person in a bathroom at a time. So it makes sense that there are more bathrooms than bedrooms.
