Down on the Farm

Virginia - The Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run, McLean

For: North America Traveling Envelope Round Robin - Group 127: Farm Life
Notes: This cabin is part of the Claude Moore Colonial Farm in McLean, Virginia.  The farm is the only privately run park in the National Park Service, with NPS only performing a few maintenence tasks.  The mission of the park, which was originally called Turkey Run Park, is to recreate the life of a tenant farmer in 1771 as a contrast to Colonial Williamsburg, which demonstrates the lives of merchants and landowners.  Most of the tenant farmers in the colonial period grew tobacco.
