Notes: This card celebrates "Defender of the Fatherland Day", a holiday celebrated on February 23rd in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and several other former Soviet Republics.  The holiday has gone through several name changes over the years.  It was originally celebrated in 1919 as Red Army Day, then as the Day of the Red Army and the Navy starting in 1923.  In 1949, it was renamed Soviet Army and Navy Day, and then finally got its current name in 2002.  Officially, it celebrates those who serve in the armed forces, but unofficially, it is a celebration of men.
